 • Question about upgrading to MySQL4.x on Red Hat9

Posted by darrena at 2004-10-21 05:14 PM

I have a red hat 9 server here and it has been recommended that I upgrade to MySQL4.x to solve some performance problems I have been having with an application.

I am assuming that I can just use the MySQL4.x RPM to upgrade to 4.x, but I am worried about how safe it is... I tested it on a stock RedHat9 install and it seemed to work fine, but I wasn't sure how it would work on your image. Any advice?

The mysql 4 rpm should work without any problems whatsoever. To be safe, however, we recommend you make a dump of the database first.

I do nightly backups in a CRON job so that shouldn't be a problem, awhile back you installed the mmcache php accelerator for me should that cause any problems?

Thanks!
